Anna: Hello and here we are at Perfectly Paranormal episode 128

My name is Anna Schmidt, and I'm here every week to share with you true paranormal encounters and information about devils, demons and dark energy beings that no one else talks about. Today, today we are talking with Rebecca Schaper Shaper. Rebecca is a filmmaker and author of an inspiring book called Roses to Rainbows - my dog Gus in the Afterlife. Rebecca shares her experiences with grief, trauma and eye opening spirit experiences with her beloved dog Gus after he passed from this life into spirit form and so much more. So, let’s get into our interview with Rebecca… Welcome Rebecca.

Rebecca: Thank you so much, Anna. I have been looking so forward to this podcast. I think you and I definitely are on the same wavelength with a lot of discussions that you and I had earlier before this came. Absolutely. Yes. So basically, I grew up in Atlanta. I came from a family with a lot of addictions, alcoholism, mental health issues. Both my brother and mother had mental health issues, which I never believed that they did.

I felt like they were absorbing all the energies and it was so chaotic to them, and sexual abuse and suicide. Fast forward my brother. Left the home. He was homeless for 20 years, but I always knew he was alive. Always knew he was alive. So then when we found each other through a miracle, we reunited. He was the catalyst of the film, A Sister's call, which [00:02:00] is my brother's name. I wanted to share who my brother was, that he wasn't quote this psychotic person, that he had a soul and that he was a person that had so much love within him, but he just had absorbed all of the trauma as when he was growing up.

And so it took 14 years to film, but it was a calling. I was. Like a vehicle. I didn't know anything about filming, but my brother was all about it, and it was the best thing in both of our lives that we both reunited during the filming process. He passed away 2012. Then about a year later, I had another calling about writing a book more spiritual about the film that I did because the film is the backbone of the book, and I'm like. Oh God, I don't know how to write a book. I have no idea. I had no idea how to do a film, but people came into my life. When you know [00:03:00] you're on aligned, people will walk in. I can tell your audience this. I'm going to backtrack here a little bit. You think you're going down one way, one path, but then the universe course corrects you and says, no, this is the way you're going and you have to trust it.

So fast forward, so through synchronicity and alignment. I me and another author did a book about my brother talking about the schizophrenia. So that was 2015. It was published then. Then that was it, and 2023 we adopted. I wouldn't say we adopted, we got a dog from Hungary and it was my daughter. Who gave us 10 minutes to make a decision on this dog that was on Facebook, and she contacted both my husband and I and she goes, mom and dad, you have got to get this dog, and Jim and I are looking at you.

Wait a minute, do we, we've had a life without a dog for seven years and we are [00:04:00] enjoying it. We knew the responsibility and she said, you've got 10 minutes to make this decision. So we're like. Good grief. And then finally we decided, we just felt it within us. We decided that's what we're going to do. So we got Gus. He flew in from Hungary and it was the best decision we ever made. Gus is, was my so dog. He was my coal pilot. We did everything together. He knew me, I knew him. We spoke telepathically. We just knew each other. Then in 2023, he. Died suddenly at six years old, broke my heart wide open. You talking about grief, it was worse than losing my parents because both my parents died by suicide. And it was it was worse than losing my parents. And it took me probably eight months to really get my head above the water. But I felt his guidance through it all because. [00:05:00] And this book is very authentic. It's real, it's experiences that happen to me, and the book is about a pet communicator that I reached out to when Gus died.

It's Gus communicating to her, and it's me giving my comments through my journaling, and it all just flowed. It was so cohesive and some of the messages that Gus gave to this pet communicator, for some reason I didn't know. I just started taking all these pictures just so I could document. I, that's just who I am.

And it happened to coincide with a lot of the messages that he was given her. So illustrations are in the book, and it's not something that it's woo. It's real. It's an experience. That I went through, and one of the takeaways I would love for your audience to understand is if they're aware, your pet will communicate to you.

You just have to be aware. [00:06:00] Even the most slightest little thing, you're like that it just hits you and you're like stunned. That's a message. Go how your body feels. If you feel like that sensation in your body, you're like, oh. Wow. There are all types of senses. Gus was just, he was an incredible dog. He was a dog that we had a lot of past lives with.

Anna: I was just going to say that I had a feeling the word past lives come into my brain and I feel like maybe you were partners in past lives, or brothers and sisters, or who knows, but isn't that wonderful? Pets do communicate. I've got a lady here, her ginger Tom, named Axel. He communicates with her all the time. I think I talked about him in one of my episodes. It was amazing. So it was wonderful to connect with you and to then to get that second experience of another person who troll connects through a pet medium with their pet, and then the pet connects to you through showing you different changes in the environment.

Rebecca:  I would walk, when is this? Favorite things was chasing the ball. And wherever I would walk, I, it was grieving and you have to go through your grief. I would see a tennis ball, but one of, there's so many profound experiences and messages he relayed to me. One of 'em was that song Over the Rainbow by the Hawaiian guy. I would go into our bathroom and I love music, so I'd pop on the music and. He knew the right timing. That song would come on. It, it still it came on three weeks ago over the Rainbow. And I knew that was him communicating with me because we'd always see rainbows together when we'd walk on the beach.

And on the cover there's a rainbow and there's a reason why. I named the book Roses to Rainbows. We were walking on the beach. I forgot [00:08:00] when it was when he was alive, but all of a, there was a rose that was sticking out of the sand. Who would've thought a rose would be sticking out of the sand? How random is that?

I know I didn't stick it in there and no one else was on the beach, so he goes up to and smells it and that, and I realized that was the day of my birthday. So for me, I, the message I got for that and he's mom, I'm smelling this rose for you. This is a rose to you and the rainbow part of the title.

And it's on the book. It's because we saw rainbows together all the time. And I have some incredible pictures of him with the rainbow. So

Anna: that is beautiful. Did you always believe in the afterlife? Is that something that you were maybe brought up with or that you personally felt from a youngster? Did you always believe or did you see spirits or is it just Gus that was your big [00:09:00] experience with the afterlife or has there been other experiences before him?

Rebecca: Yes. When my mother passed away, I remember sitting up in bed immediately. And I saw her in the doorframe of the bedroom and she was like sideways looking in. I remember she had her nightgown on. It didn't scare me, it just made me aware. But then I. Now that Gus passed away and in some of the other situations I had by doing the film and the second book, I got a lot of messages through that.

So it, it all comes together. 2001 since, yeah, that's when started. Ever since I started the film, that's when thing, the doors started opening up. I feel very grateful and blessed in my life of the messages from feathers, from birds, from animals. Wow.

Anna: And we were talking about yes clouds. I was just going to mention, we were talking about pareidolia earlier. Has some people think that, oh, seeing [00:10:00] faces and images in clouds and on, in rocks and at the beach and wherever you see them, is just your mind creating it. I believe that it. Isn't maybe 80% spiritual, 20% people are looking for something, they need some sort of confirmation. But your universal guides, your spirit guides, whatever you want to call 'em they'll use our environment.

This is where we live. It's very physical. They'll use physical structures in our environment. And when you are aware, like you are, you'll pick it up and go, I was just thinking about that. I needed that confirmation. Do you feel that's the same?

Rebecca: Yes, I, and also too, if I'm walking on the beach and I instinctively will look up, I'll see something in, in there. I have a picture right here that I was thinking of Gus and Zeke in, in my mind, that they were, had reincarnated together, that Gus was so dogging and. This is API hope you can see it. [00:11:00] But all of a sudden I looked up, 'cause I was thinking about this, I don't know, can you see the dog figure and the wings on the dog?

Anna: I can see the wings, definitely. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. It does look like a dog's face.

Rebecca: See, right there is the face. Oh, absolutely. You can see the snout and even the nose. Yeah. Yes. And those are the, those are examples that are in my book. It's not something I'm pulling outta my rear end. I know. I'm like hard to articulate because it's just so real when you experience something like this. You're just blown away and you're, and you feel so grateful and blessed. You

Anna: are indeed. I think my little dog, dilly is still here in my house. We've only ever had the two dogs because I'll be working on my computer and I will, I have a long kitchen and I will see a shift in the environment. This is how I explain spirits. How I see spirits or [00:12:00] spirit energy is I'll see the outline of something moving like it's cloaked in our environment and it's very low to the

Rebecca: ground. Have you seen white, like a white floating very quickly, brief, white floating spirit? I've seen that just floating. Or even in my peripheral vision, you go, whoa what was that? You're not making this stuff up. It comes totally unexpectedly. That's how you know,

Anna: that's how you know. And I know when I've got different types of entities in my house. 'cause if they're dark. Their energy is going to be denser and you'll see a black patch or a dark shadow, like people talk about the dog was really interesting. I didn't tell any of my children 'cause they were very connected to the dog and I didn't wanna upset them to let them know that she was still here, but she doesn't want to go and she's just roaming around the house doing whatever she's doing. I don't see her, she gets on my bed sometimes I feel something snuggle up to me.

Rebecca: It's just beautiful. Aw, I love that.

Anna: But [00:13:00] it's. I was on an interview or I was on a phone call with someone and this lady's quite psychic, and she just went, have you got a dog? And I went, oh, that's interesting. I went, no. And she went you've got a little orange dog in your house. And I went, that was a confirmation for me that I was, it wasn't my grief making it up.

Rebecca: Exactly not your grief. Making it up. And that's a huge point right there. It's not your grief making it up the best way I can explain. It just comes at a left field. It just comes and you're not expecting it. Love it. I just puts a big smile on my face.

Anna: Now, you used the term a moment ago called Soul dogging. So do you believe that a dog can actually reincarnate into or connect to. Another animal to communicate with you or discuss even need to do that because he can probably communicate with you directly. But you did use the term soul dogging. Would you like to explain that to the audience?

Rebecca: Absolutely, [00:14:00] yes. Gus gives me messages separately. But how we got Zeke from the same breeder. No doubt that Gus can put his energy inside Zeke. Now, if Gus put his entire energy into Zeke circuits would just blow up. But one way we knew that Gus was soul dogging when we brought Zeke home. Actually, we got him the day my mother died by suicide, and it was seven days prior to Gus's death, so there was some synchronicity right there. And he immediately went into the house and picked up Gus's favorite toy, which lamb chop, you know the little la Yes. He immediately. Sat up and we are like, oh my gosh. And another dog, Stella, which is my daughter's dog would stay with us for a while, and here's another situation dogs can understand and they can grieve too.

We brought her after Gus had passed away and she [00:15:00] came out in the yard and went out where they used to play and she was howling for him.  Oh, yeah, it broke. I have a, I took a video. It just broke my heart. But I feel like also too, Gus was probably communicating to her, that, Hey, I'm here. She sensed him. He was around because it was really shortly after he passed away. And there are other characteristics of Zeke that we see in Gus, and sometimes I, the gus is okay, Zeke you need to behave here. You need to do this. You're being too much of a of a puppy or whatever.

Because he is 11 months old and they're different personalities, but they're, but I do see Gus God in him. It's like he guided me through a lot of things that I was working on in during 2023 and 2024. Do you think that Zeke actually sees Guss. [00:16:00] I definitely believe that because I was standing in my bathroom and he was playing with something.

All of a sudden he stopped and he looked up above my head and just stared. And there, there've been other incidences, but that one stood out the most. I was like, I. Are you seeing Gus Seek Is Guss in here? It was like a stare that, he's seeing something. I definitely feel that he's probably right around here listening, saying he could be guiding me right now because I asked him to come in and help me through this podcast. That there is something he wanted me to say.

Anna: And do you think that's possibly why Zeke might've been. Very excited and very over animated, barking and couldn't settle.

Rebecca: Yes. You witnessed that and I didn't really want to say a whole lot 'cause I wasn't sure where we were going with this, but No doubt.

Anna: Yeah. That's wonderful. I believe pets stay, if they choose to stay, they stay. I've offered my [00:17:00] little doggy many times. Do you want to go and be with Poppy and Nanny? 'cause both my parents have gone. And there's just no response. So when she's ready, she'll come and let me know. And I was going to ask you the soul dogging, I wrote this down while you were speaking. Do you think that dogs or other animals will do that sometimes so that they can experience the physical environment again?

Rebecca: Yeah. Oh gosh. I just got goosebumps when you said that. Oh, woo. Okay. Gus was an old soul dog. Yeah. Okay. When he No doubt old soul dog. My gut feeling is that Gus has experienced a lot what Zeke is doing because Zeke is 11 months old, but he's more of a puppy.

Where Gus was just like, he was the alpha, he was regal. But Zeke is. Licks you all over, throws toys all over the place, acts like that. So I def no doubt. I [00:18:00] told my husband, I said, I think Gus is wanting to come back and do some of this fun like puppy stuff that he didn't when he was with us, because he was just an old soul dog. Yeah. But yeah, no, no doubt in my mind I just, I, it's just that gut intuitive feeling.

Anna: And also too, I was thinking, I wrote down spirit guide. Do you think that Gu, that Gus is like a soul dog or a spirit guide physique to help him maybe not make some of the mistakes that Gus made. Yeah. Do you think he's like a big brother?

Rebecca: Yes, I think it. Who's to say that Zeke could be his brother? There you go. I don't know. But I do know that Gus is one of my spirit gods because when I did the practicing the workshop and for a year getting certified to be a shaman practitioner, eagle would always come in.

And I [00:19:00] know that was part of Gus. And the reason why I say that because when I journeyed, I would see myself with an eagle and I. No 100% sure. Just some of the experiences. And it shows illustration in the book. Yep. Of this past Easter, we were at our beach house and Jim and I were sitting on the back porch and all of a sudden we saw this huge eagle flying all the way up to our screen, like it was gonna go through it.

Wow. And then it. Straight up and it landed on the very top deck of our viewing deck of our beach house, and it landed right on the railing. And I went, oh my God. So I tiptoe up there and I took tons of pictures. But here's the cool thing about it and I'd love for your audience. I hope they can take away this. That morning my daughter said, God, I'd love [00:20:00] to see an eagle. And lo and behold, she got to see it. And there is a picture. When Gus was alive of Gus sitting in Lauren's lap on Easter with Easter Bunny ears on. So Gus is like, Hey, here you go. Do you understand what I'm trying to relate here? Those are the kind of things some people may like.

Oh, okay. Eagle up there. Okay. The dog was sitting on the lap with the funny ears. No, you gotta connect everything together. There's a storyline there. There's connection there, and that's, for me, it's okay, I'm aware of this. And then it just all of a sudden came into my mind that Gus and Lauren were together on Easter and he had the Easter ears on, and plus Lauren was manifesting, wanting to see an eagle. So there's a common thread. That's the kinda stuff that people can do. [00:21:00] They shouldn't be afraid of it.

Anna: No. I manifest things all the time, and sometimes I get them in 30 seconds, and sometimes it might take 30 days depending on what it is I wrote down while you were speaking. People often overthink and they lose the message in that moment, and it doesn't always come back again,

Rebecca: and you've got to trust the process. Gotta trust it. And you just have to be in the flow and not with the flow. You gotta be in the flow. And you're right, you can't manipulate it because you're right, it may not ever come back again. That special moment, if we hadn't have been sitting out there and that back deck, we never would've seen it.

Never. Those, that's the kinda stuff that I don't know. I just get so excited about talking this. It's it's my. Passion for people to really, I don't want people, I don't wanna tell [00:22:00] people what to do, but just experience the experience. Listen to your body. If you've lost a pet dog, open your heart up open to see the messages. 'cause they wanna communicate with you. And it helps with the grieving. Absolutely. It helps because, yeah. I. When I would see that tennis ball, when I was thinking about it, it just made me smile. I would say thank you always. Thank you. Thank you. Always thank you with a message. Thank you.

Anna:  And it's interesting because there's probably two levels to this. There are people that I. I hope this doesn't come across as sounding harsh. There are people that want to keep their pets here because they can't let them go, and their grief is so it's massive. And then there's others like me that go, oh, I really miss Dili, or I miss Steffi that we're here.

There are two little dogs that we had, but I was okay to let them go because I understand on a spiritual level that this physical body only lasts. For so long, and then we move on to [00:23:00] whatever, we learn what we need to learn in this lifetime and then we journey on to whatever that next lifetime is. But it's, what did I write down? I wrote down something, now I've forgotten. This is why I write things down so I don't forget. It's okay. Your book, do you find that you get people emailing you or phoning you or talking to you in public or even through the podcast episodes or videos? Do you get people saying how much your book has helped them understand? The spirit environment and how pets can actually communicate with their owners.

Rebecca: Yeah. It makes, it helps them knowing that they're not alone in their grief, and it helps them being more open-minded and become more aware. Oh, I, I didn't think about that. The purpose of this book is to help people. Yep. Grieving. And their pets are with them and how they want to communicate through my own experiences and whatever proceeds I get for the [00:24:00] book goes to a rescue center. Animal rescue stuff. Oh, that's

Anna: beautiful.

Rebecca: I don't want the money honoring gus 'cause I know this is what he wants me to do and I've got a feeling there's gonna be more, but I'm just going to be in the flow of it. I'm gonna keep moving on, but I know I'll be gutted

Anna: and what I just wrote down was you can enjoy your dog or your cat or your bird in the physical experience, but then you can still enjoy them in the spiritual experience as well.

Rebecca: Yes. And sometimes I have to be honest with it, it's hard because you want that physical touch and they brought so much joy and laughter and he taught me a lot.

Anna: You will find this interesting is that my other little dog named Steffi, who was a step bull, a Achi bull, Terri Cross, she's not here like she is with my parents. And how I know that this was really interesting, I just went to see a medium with a bunch of ladies one day, more for [00:25:00] a afternoon tea of chat and just talking spiritual stuff.

And all of a sudden she turns to me, 'cause my dad had passed away maybe six months ago. She turns to me and she went. Your dad's here and that made me oh, little bit sad. Then she went, there's a little black dog with him. Didn't get a name, which is fine, but she described the dog. This woman didn't know me from bar soap as people say.

I did not know her. None of my friends really knew about this dog. It was before their time. So that's cemented in my brain and I knew that animal souls would go to heaven or wherever, mass consciousness or wherever it is that we go. The dog chose to go to, my parents wanted to be with them. 'cause my dad was very much liked to play with the tennis ball, throw the ball, bring it back, the fetch thing that they just love. It was, it made me feel happy. It didn't make me feel sad. It made me feel happy to know that Steffi was there with my dad. Just, I love that

Rebecca: story. Yeah, and she didn't even know you, [00:26:00] right? She didn't know you? No, she didn't

Anna: even know me. I didn't even know her name. When we got there, they gave me a brief rundown of this person. She had specific skills for mediumship, and I went, oh, this is interesting. This is in my early days of doing this sort of work, in my thirties, but 20 odd years ago now. But I just found that fascinating is that she said, oh, this dog is this shape and this size, and her ears sit this funny, weird way.

Rebecca:And I went I know who that is. It I just love that because there's people like yourself and people like that me are extremely gifted. They're here for their purpose and they know, and this is what this is. You're helping. The mass consciousness to become more aware. We're not the only beings here.

No. And how we can communicate. And have you heard about the tapes called Telepathy Talk? No. Would you like to enlighten us? I haven't heard at all, but this is basically what they're about. It's about autism kid, and they're able to communicate with [00:27:00] each other telepathically around the world. There is a tape on there about how animals communicate telepathically, and it's a documentary and it, this is like going gangbusters, so it's very fascinating. I think there's seven tapes, seven. But yeah, it's fascinating. We're learning so much today.

Anna: There is so much to learn. Children or adults with autism, I don't wanna say they're existing on another frequency that's probably the wrong choice of words. They can tune into other frequencies of energy and information that your average person in the street is not ready to or just doesn't want to tune into. They're okay. So someone just said to me, they're wired differently. I don't know who the someone is. I get these things that come sometimes come to me.

The voice, this voice that tells me things, they're wired differently. So I know I'm wired differently because I connect really well with the dark and the [00:28:00] demonic entities, but not in a Satanic way, in an understanding and a respectful way. And I understand them enough to be able to shift them outta people's homes without causing problems.

You understand how they work, and I've owned that. So it's owning your skills. There's probably so many more people out there with intuitive or PET medium or spirit medium or all these different skills, but they're too afraid. To own who they are and to actually speak about it. I had a really nasty comment on Instagram the other day.

I only post podcast episodes coming up and little videos and things, and I'm not gonna share it 'cause it was quite rude, but I'm like, why would you even bother? This must be the troll type people, but what sort of sad people can't open their minds to the possibilities. There is something around us other than what we can see, hear, feel, touch, taste.

That seems very limited in thinking to me. [00:29:00] I think it's fear-based. Yes, definitely fear-based. Yep. And probably fear from. I look at it at different levels, being trained in school, being trained with families, being trained with different types of religion. Now, I'm not against religion. People have their own way that they need to find their way to God or Jesus, or the higher vibrations.

You are what I call a way show. You are showing people the way without fear of owning who you are. I'm getting all tingly. I'm getting in my soapbox here. Sorry. I'm gonna shut up soon. But it's no, I love it. Go for it. It's owning who you are. So important to go right? Yeah. I just, I'm gravitate towards dark entities. I gravitate towards spirit mediumship. I gravitate towards working with the galactic beings. Own it. 'cause it's all part of our environment.

Rebecca:. No. I thoroughly enjoy listening to what you're saying. No, I, you don't have to apologize 'cause I [00:30:00] hear you. I hear you loud and clear. I wish I lived in Hobart, Australia. I'd be right there with you all just absorbing all the knowledge and just, and the energy that, with that group that you went to. I just, to me it's. Fascinating. There's so much we can learn so much.

Anna: because it's so nice to connect with people that just get it.

Rebecca: They believe it, they get it. They own it. It is just, and they don't, they're not afraid to talk about it, and they just speak the truth. That's it. They do. So where can people find your book? Amazon. I. The name of the book is Roses to Rainbows. My dog Guss in the Afterlife. And just know that if you feel resonated to buy the book and you really like it, I would love for you to write a review because that can get me up higher and that way all the proceeds can go to a rescue animal center.

That's what it's all about. I don't [00:37:00] want any money outta this. I'm doing it to give tribute to Gus, and Gus wants me to do this.

Anna: You are truly a beautiful soul. I'm so glad the podcasting Gods put us together. Thank you, Rebecca. It's been wonderful.

Rebecca: Thank you. It's been great and I really appreciate again, you having me.
